A photo session with the sweetest mother-daughter connection:
From the moment this session started, I could so tell the love between these three is so strong. As a girl-mom myself, it is just extra special to capture the bond between a mother and her girls. These two little girls are fun, strong, and so kind...a big indication that their mom is all those things, too!
When Tonya reached out about photos, she mentioned that she wanted a family session with a very autumn / fall look and feel. I knew the perfect spot! From this gorgeous view we could see the changing leaves in the background, the Arkansas River, and Fremont County, Colorado's beautiful mountains. I also love the brown, tall grass. It creates a nice neutral in the foreground to help the subjects really stand out.
Canon City, Colorado really does have so much beautiful and varied scenery to offer for family sessions! And this is one I just LOVE!
I loved capturing connection in this session and just prompting and facilitating the natural moments and affection. There were so many sweet giggles and energy and I just soaked it up! What a beautiful family, right?!
This mommy also had her photo session outfits down to a TEE. These outfits are a great example of fall family photo session outfits that coordinate without becoming matchy-matchy. Color wise they are all wearing similar colors (black, denim, white) but in different textures and in different pieces (for example: mom has black lace, while one daughter has black tights, one daughter has a denim jacket, while the other is wearing denim overalls). The one daughter's purple skirt adds a fun yet subtle color pop! All of the colors went so well with the fall leaves and mountains in the background.
Of course the session would not have been complete without a few moments at the end to focus on mom, right? I know you momma's are thinking of all those adorable photos you are going to get of your kiddos...but don't forget who came first and get a few of yourself, too! (If it's been a little while since you have been in front of the camera by yourself, I totally get that -- but no worries, I'll tell you exactly what to do!). These are all gorgeous -- but my favorite one to get was that little artsy hair-toss shot with a bit of motion blur.

"Monica has such a calming, fun personality and had us laughing and feeling relaxed immediately when arriving to the photoshoot. My kids can be a bit crazy, so having someone working WITH the chaos and not getting frustrated at my kids antics, and also being able to seamlessly switch directions as my girls had a hard time focusing…it was everything! I felt like she captured my family as we are in real life perfectly. The joy, laughter, and giggles! And that’s what I love seeing in our pictures! I’m absolutely obsessed with how our pictures turned out!"
